5 Steps to Repurpose a Blog into a Slide Deck

You can repurpose your blog into a slide deck in 5 easy steps

Step 1: Choose the right blog

Step 2: Identify which content can be converted into a slide deck

Step 3: Reduce your selected content to information that will fit on a slide.

Step 4:  Focus on the visual element

Step 5: Compile it.

A Slide Deck is a great way to display lengthy, more complex content in a simple way. Let's try to understand how you can repurpose a blog into a slide deck in detail with the help of this example. For example, you want to repurpose a blog about "8 ways to repurpose blog content" into a slide deck.

Let's see how to go about it.

Step 1: Choose the right content

In this case, we have already selected the blog that has to be repurposed. But when you select a blog, ensure that you pick a good quality one. Something that is relevant, engaging and adds value to your audience.

Step 2: Identify which content can be converted into a slide deck

Not all content is suitable and must be added to a slide deck which will be a concise form of the long-form content. In our example, I'll have to discuss all the 8 ways along with an introductory slide. Any additional information mentioned or discussed for a particular section might not be necessary for a slide deck.

Step 3: Reduce your selected content to information that will fit on a slide

Time to convert your selected content into slide-worthy information. Cut your content down to bullet points. In our example, the sub-heading could form the content of the slides. The topic says 8 ways, so we just need to focus on the ways to repurpose, not on the process. If the readers want more information they can always refer to the original piece of content.

Step 4: Focus on the visual element

Try to add a visual element to each slide as relevant illustrations increase audience attention and memory. This could be a piece of stock photography that works, a piece of clip art, a chart, a screenshot, or something else that illustrates your point.

Tip: When you are designing the slides, you don't need to build a template from scratch. Many apps and websites are available online that allow you to choose from a plethora of pre-designed templates. You can pick one, add your content, edit it according to your preference and done.

Step 5: Compile, and you are all set!

Once you have repurposed your blog into a slide deck, you can share the content as a carousel on social media or on platforms like SlideShare. SlideShare is a content-sharing platform that allows you to upload media presentations and share them on your website or social media profile. You can also provide the link to the blog  from which the slide deck was created. This way, you can drive more traffic to the blog and your customers can get more information if they want to that way.
